Public Art Response
by Raleigh Murals Project

The Raleigh Murals Project believes that Black Lives Matter and value protests where voices of unity and justice can be heard. We want to amplify black voices in our community. We have teamed up with Royale chef Jeffrey Seizer and VAE Raleigh to create a platform to raise awareness about the issues that led to the protests through murals. We will do this by uplifting the voices of those affected by systemic racism, prioritizing black artists and artists of color, and offering a platform to express those experiences and truths.

Many Raleigh buildings have boarded up their windows over this past weekend. It has left our city in a state of repair both emotionally as a community, and physically. Many community members want to offer their spaces as an outlet for black artists. We see this as a long process and are working on the next steps with our partners who believe in giving diverse artists a platform.

If you’re in a place where you’re looking to help, we invite you to donate funds, materials, or share your artistic talents. Your help and donations will provide material for local artists to create murals with messages that express Raleigh’s belief in unity and justice. All funds will go to these artists with any leftovers donated to NAACP NC.
