The 2016 summit theme is HOME: How can communities be improved by their artists, and how can artists be improved by their communities? This year’s programming includes:

  • A free public keynote address by Pittsburg artist and performer Vanessa German, whose art career achieved new conceptual depths and professional heights when she embraced the community that was literally breaking down her door.
  • Cool regional panelists and speakers speaking about the ways that creative symbiosis between art and community unlocked unexpected artistic and professional opportunities for them.
  • A resource fair lunch to introduce and forge relationships between artists and community leaders and resources.
  • The Ignite Creativity Fellowship and Lighter Fluid Prizes. VAE is giving $2000 to attendees who have ideas for awesome community-oriented creative projects.
