COLLECTIVE WORKS: for better mental health
Thank you for helping us raise $16,320 for mental health during these challenging times! This project could not have been successful without matching support from the team at

Collective Works is a community-built mural and benefit for NAMI Wake County, an organization working diligently to help people in our community keep and improve their mental health during this time of uncertainty and unrest. The finished mural was made up of 8,160 pixels and was displayed in VAE’s previous storefront windows at 309 W Martin Street.

During the time of self-isolation and unrest, when many people are feeling alone, this project provided our community with the opportunity to make art together and to provide resources to the most vulnerable among us.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 and the murder of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and countless others, NAMI Wake County has had an increase in requests for services and resources to combat their loneliness and depression. NAMI has been working strategically with partners to make sure their resources are reaching the communities who need them most right now. NAMI designed programming to respond to this greater demand, but needed the community’s support to implement them.

NAMI Wake County provides support to individuals and families who are living with mental health challenges in order to them lead better lives. Mental illness is plagued by a stigma that prevents people from accessing the treatment and support to lead a life of recovery. NAMI Wake County is committed to diminishing the stigma and improving access to resources so that all those affected by mental illness feel welcome in the community. If you or someone you love is in need of support for their mental health, please reach out to NAMI through their helpline: 919-848-4490.
