Classical Hang

Started by Dovid Friedlander, an Associate Concertmaster violinist for the North Carolina Symphony, Classical Hang is an intimate, live performance of small string ensembles, playing in a relaxed, “pay-as-you-can” setting.

Classical Hang wants to bring the music to an audience who normally would not be able to enjoy a concert series of this nature. Within the relaxed atmosphere of Rebus Works, patrons enjoy a sliding scale concert series, while being up close and personal with the musicians. The relaxed atmosphere contributes to more of a “story-telling” set up, allowing musicians to give a history of the time and circumstances surrounding the works and creating an aural portrait of the composer's life and background, bringing a more grounded and accessible entry into the classical music world.

We’re bringing music back to the masses, rather than to one specific socio-economic class. Through the Classical Hang series, we can create a sense of community, a place where everyone feels comfortable regardless of age or income, creating a positive social impact on our neighborhood and Raleigh. Anyone can attend, not just those who can afford the ticket.

Classical Hang is fiscally sponsored by VAE Raleigh, a 501(c)3 non-profit creativity incubator. Donations are tax-deductible.
